Demonstration at The Cable Show Will Showcase Upcoming New Technology
Beaverton, Ore., May 11, 2010 – The RVU Alliance announced today a significant expansion of the organization with new members joining at both the Promoter and Contributor levels.
AppliedMicro, Morega Systems, Sigma Designs and Vixs have joined at the Promoter level, while Allegro, Cortina Systems, Marvell, Wistron NeWeb and Zoran Corporation joined as Contributor members.
“The RVU Alliance is continuing to gather momentum with the addition of several new companies spanning the entire industry ecosystem,” said Henry Derovanessian, president of the RVU Alliance Board of Directors. “Our membership continues to expand significantly, and with our first RVU products on target for launch this year, we are eagerly looking forward to growing both our membership and our range of certified devices.”
The RVU Alliance was set up to facilitate the adoption of an open standard solution which allows service providers to expand their unique UI and user experience onto standard consumer devices without the need for proprietary equipment. The RVU specification uses widely implemented UPnP and DLNA technologies to enable a gateway device such as an advanced set-top box to work with non-proprietary thin client devices such as connectable TVs, Blu-ray players and set-top boxes.
The RVU Alliance will be demonstrating an RVU system solution based on a next generation gateway device during NCTA’s The Cable Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 11-13. The demonstration will be at the Entropic Communications booth, #1813.
